Show your community some love this February

Valentine’s Day is only weeks away. It’s a wonderful opportunity to not only show your patients and colleagues some love, but to also highlight heart disease education.

  • February is American Heart Month. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 28.4 million Americans have diagnosed heart disease. It’s no wonder that it is the nation’s leading cause of death. Check out the wide variety of customizable heart disease-related materials TAG Partners has to offer.
  • Contact a local hospital dietitian and sponsor a heart-smart nutrition class and cooking demonstration at your office or a local senior center. Distribute samples of heart-healthy snacks to those in attendance.
  • Check out this Heart Month toolkit created by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It has great ideas for social media posts, community engagement and more.
  • Participate in Heart Month events and distribute branded heart-shaped stress balls to those you encounter. Call TAG Partners at 866-232-6477 for details and pricing.
  • Call on cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons to educate them about your post-acute care services for those undergoing procedures to treat their heart conditions. Home health providers: be sure to take along your patient education guides to support your commitment to patient-centered treatment and care.
  • Send Valentine’s Day cards or postcards to your referral sources to simply create a pleasant point of contact. Also take the time to send Valentine’s Day cards to current and former patients.
  • Ask your patients and staff members what they love about home care. Share their answers on your social media feeds all month long. Create a hashtag to track and spread your reach.
  • Hospice providers, host a grief support group focused on the loss of a partner or spouse. Take this opportunity to ensure they have the resources they need as they work through their grief.
  • Give employees a small treat this Valentine’s Day. This could be pink donuts in the office, a heart-shaped logo pin, or a simple note telling them how much you care about them being a part of your team.
